Ryokan
Designed by renowned architect Toshihiro Oki, whose work includes contributions to the New Museum in New York City and serves as architectural advisor to Grace Farms in New Canaan – CT, Goldenrod Inn showcases his unique design approach and mastery of materials.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese aesthetics, the spread layout evokes the unfolding of a paper fan, while the asymmetrical roofs resemble folded paper. The inn is nestled amongst a filed of wildflowers and trees contributing to the inn’s distinctive ambiance.
Gardens
- Our Japanese-style garden draws inspiration from contemporary refined art while incorporating regional species
- Rock (枯山水, karesansui) & Traditional (日本庭園, nihon teien) Gardens
- Access and use are reserved exclusively for our guests and day pass visitors
- Every room has their own private nature space
Hokan (Main building)
- A coffee bar and lounge
- Flexible dining and entertainment area
- Able to host events; including weddings, corporate retreats, and other special occasions
- The exterior face of the building will have large windows and a full-length deck, and stonework that takes language from Japanese castle building
Sento
The Goldenrod Inn’s Sento bath offers a modern interpretation of Japan’s bathing customs and traditional public baths.
Day passes to this amenity will also be available for visitors not staying overnight at the inn.

Bathing Experience
- The layout of the Sento bath is carefully structured to guide each guest through a gradual and deliberate ritual experience.
- During normal hours, bathing suits required and available for everyone
- Durning special hours, bathing-suits are prohibited and only available to men OR woman to provide an authentic experience
- Lounge area will offer locally-sourced refreshments including teas, juices, snacks and assorted treats.
